Performance opportunity THIS Thursday night, before Intermediate class!
Hi Everyone
Thank you to everyone that came along to Vanroe's workshop and the dance party at the weekend. Here are some opportunities to put some of those performance tips into practise!!
Three things I would like to let you know about today:
1. Performance opportunity in the Wearable Arts Awards at Otago Uni this Thursday night
2. Fever routine practise TONIGHT
3. Dance opportunity at the University Wednesday (tomorrow!)
1.
Ceroc has been asked to provide 5 couples to perform between events at the first ever Otago University Students Association (OUSA) Wearable Arts Awards on Thursday evening, the 12th of July.
You will be dancing on the Catwalk which is 2.5m wide and 40m long, and will stretch the length of the Link, beside the Library. The show starts at 6.00pm and we are scheduled to dance between 6.15 and 6.30. We will be doing Two freestyle tracks back to back i.e., the music will not stop. I am trying to match at least one of the tracks to the nights theme.
The theme for the night is "Industrial", they would like us to dress "appropriately" :-) I can talk to you about what this could mean.
There will be photographers there as it is a 'fashion' show, but our intention is still to have fun and enjoy it. Our demonstration should be finished by 6.45 (allowing for the show to be running a bit late) so you should still be able to make the Intermediate class should you wish to do so, and of course you are welcome to stay and watch the rest of the show.
Please let me know if you are keen to take part in this event asap, It would help if you could organise partners for yourself, but if you get stuck trying to contact someone, then let me know. This will be "first in bested dressed" . Thanks
2.
As we have now finished teaching the latest Fever Routine class, we would now like to open up the class to anyone that has previously learnt the routine and would like to practise it. We would also like to give a lot more feedback on how you can improve your dance style and technique within the routine. As with anything, the more you practise the better you will get. The class is TONIGHT at Mojos from 8.30 - 9.45ish, you can leave earlier than that though. We are rotating partners, however it is fine for you to stick with one partner if that is what you prefer. There is no extra charge for these classes if you have already learnt the routine. The class will continue for several weeks. This class has been a little short of guys, so Lady's please be encouraging, get the guys along!
We are hoping to develop a dedicated 'Demo Team' that we can use as our base for the many functions and events that we have coming up. This will be open to ANYONE who would like to perform, but will require some dedicated practise time. There will be 'Benefits' in being involved in the team, more about that soon.
3.
Tomorrow is Club's Day at the Uni for the second semester 'Re-Orientation'. Ben, myself and Fiona will be manning, oops sorry Fi, 'personing' :-) the Ceroc stand for the day. The event is in the Union Hall at the Uni, Ceroc will have a stand in one of the corners. If you feel like a dance sometime during the day, then please come down. We would love to see you there!!!
And a reminder that Monday nights have been cancelled for the time being, until we can finalise a format that will benefit everyone.
Kind Regards
John
