Ceroc Dunedin & Invercargill News and Events June 07
Hi Everyone,
The Ceroc Dunedin newsletter comes out every 2-3 weeks and keeps you all up to date with the social events and workshops that are being planned here in Dunedin and in other towns throughout NZ. We also include interesting stories and some great dance movement advice from teachers and dancers nationwide.
For the Invercargill Ceroc students I have included a special section on the Invercargill coming events.
Firstly I would like to thank Rebekah and Jimmy for inviting us to their fantastic party last month. It was very popular, and the Navy Reserve Hall proved to be a great venue. We will try to use it again if possible J
Many of you may remember Steve Lampert, he is a UK based Ceroc teacher who taught a fantastic 'Blues" workshop for us last year. Great news, Steve is returning to Dunedin and will be teaching workshops this weekend!, Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th of June. We are also hosting a dance party this Saturday night to make the most of Steve's talents both as a dancer and a D.J! See below for details.
We have been very pleased that over the past 4 and half years we have been able to supply you all with the best value Ceroc classes in the country. Most North Island dancers are paying $13-$15 / class! Along with Ceroc Christchurch we have maintained our general fees at $10 / night. Unfortunately time has caught up with us, as has IRD, and we are now required to be GST registered. There have also been some increases in our overheads over the past 2 years that we are no longer able to absorb. The good news is we have been able to limit the increase in our fees to just $1, so our new general nightly fee will increase to just $11. The nightly student fee will also increase by $1 to $9. This increase will take effect from next week, Monday the 25 th BUT we will be holding our 'Multi – trip' concession cards at their current price until the end of the month. This will enable you 'Stock – Up' on Ceroc classes in advance at current great value prices! Full details are listed below.
I am changing to new Data Base Email system, if you receive this email more than once, or you do not wish to receive information from Ceroc Dunedin, please let me know and I will update the system. Thank you!!
There is SO much happening over the next month or so, I will just get straight into the details!

7th of July Events, The Milton Ball in Milton and Adam's (Ceroc Wellington) Musical Interpretaion workshop and dance party in Wanaka
The Milton Ball
Is on again! Last year we had a lot of fun at this great event. Once again there will be a very good live band pumping out some great 'very danceable' music. Ceroc will not be doing a specific demonstration this year, but we have been specifically invited back as we provided some awesome entertainment for those that were not dancing.
Tickets need to be reserved in ADVANCED and will be available to be picked up at the door on the night. Details are at class, or let me (John) know and I will reserve them for you.
Musical Interpretaion Workshop and Dance Party in Wanaka
Adam Nathanson & Mandy Britnell's Workshop – Musical Interpretation #2!
Level: All Levels .
Dancing is not just about performing a set of moves, it is about moving to the music in a way that follows all the highs, lows, little twiddly bits and dramatic changes. Learn how to interpret specific tracks while you are dancing, what to do with the starting and ending parts of the music and what moves to use, how to change the pace of your dancing throughout a piece of music and recognise breaks and accents. The workshop is not too technical, easy to follow and very user friendly. It is appropriate for dancers who can freestyle competently and wish to add more style and pizzaz to their freestyle dancing.
Phil's Party at the Barn! 7th June Phil Marsden from Wanaka has kindly offered to host a party for Ceroc at his place, The Barn, after Adam and Mandy's workshop on Saturday 7th July.
GOT A BED ? - Wanaka-ites - if you have a bed available for a visiting Cerocer please let Phil know.
NEED A BED ? – Contact Phil and either he'll put you in contact with someone who has offered a bed, or, there are a few spare beds/mattresses at the Barn so bring your sleeping bag or if you are feeling particularly brave there is plenty of space to pitch a tent! I'd take a good sleeping bag and a hot water bottle if I were you!
Please bring a plate of food for a pot luck dinner & give Phil a hug for hosting this party
Invercargill News and General Class Times

Quote for the week
"Great dancers are not great because of their technique - they are great
because of their passion.'"
~Martha Graham
The language of movement requires no words - neither for its expression, nor for its understanding.
Without uttering a syllable, the vocabulary of dance speaks directly to the senses, seducing the heart and securing the soul.
~ Royal NZ Ballet ~
Kind Regards
